![]() The general atmosphere is somewhere between Darkest Dungeon and Hades, an odd melding of the two titles. With little in terms of storytelling, players work their way to the tippy top, where the biggest, baddest mean guy intuitively rests, waiting to be killed. Curse of the Dead Gods is one such example of this attempt to cash in on the hybrid, but with sterling examples in recent years flooding the market, can it differentiate itself from the pack? With Hades in contention for Game of the Year awards alongside mammoth titles like Final Fantasy VII Remake, clearly developers and fans have fallen in love with procedural generation, randomness, and frenetic combat. But you have to be pretty good, you'll only feel the benefits if you manage to consistently get, like, 15-20 or more greed kills, so that's not necessarily very appropriate for a beginner. The action RPG/roguelite hybrid genre trucks on with no sign of stopping. I think the most powerful blessing is Reptilian Hunger, the one that freezes the greed kill timer between fights and make it improve your damage output, because it can bring you literal tons of gold and makes you a lot stronger if you manage to keep your greed kill counter high. I really like the blessing that drops 5 items instead of 2 when you beat a boss : that's a lot of items, and even if you don't want them you can always recycle them. I'm not a fan of the better gear drop - it may be powerful, but it's hard to evalutate its actual usefulness, and as a result it doesn't feel really impactful. I like to use blessings that help me buy more stuff or find more gear, so the 120 corruption and 1000 gold ones can help. ![]() ![]() The Eagle temple (the ones with the babies, etc) is the hardest one.Īs for the blessings, it depends on a lot of things. ![]() If you haven't done them yet, I'd advise you to focus on the Serpent or Jaguar temples first. ![]()
